CH Matisse needs no introduction. At 23 years old, he is still hitting the show ring with the same amount of energy as a 5 year old. He can be crabby in his stall, but he is one of the smoothest and nicest horses to ride. He loves to teach riders how to use the double bridle and work on patterns. It costs $400/month to sponsor Matisse.
Willie has been teaching lessons at HRS for about 2 years now. With his high head and smooth trot, he is a barn favorite. He can be kind of a grump about picking up his canters, but once a rider gets him to do it, he is as smooth as can be! It costs $500/month to sponsor Willie.
Rocket is fairly new to the HRS lesson program, so he is still learning the art of becoming a lesson horse. Rocket was shown in western before HRS got him, so he has an awesome sitting trot and canter. It costs $225/month to sponsor Rocket.
Emma is a beautiful half-Arabian mare that has been teaching lessons at HRS for four years. She and Denver are the best of friends, and are rarely apart. Emma is the next step for new riders after Denver. She has a quicker trot that teaches riders to post quick, but keep their hands quiet.
It costs $225/month to sponsor Emma.
Indy is one of our white Welsh ponies. When not rolling in the mud in his paddock, Indy is well known for his quick-stepping trot that teaches riders to grip their knees tight! Indy can also be seen dressing up as a unicorn for birthday parties. It costs $100/month to sponsor Indy.
Buttons & Maddie
Buttons and Maddie are our two miniature horses. This mother and daughter duo are stars at our birthday parties! They teach little kids how to lead and brush. They are also skilled at running obstacle courses with kids! There are a lot of laughs when these two are around! Buttons is also Clara’s first pony that she loves to ride and brush. It costs $125/month to sponsor both minis.
One of the barn favorites and friendliest is Orlando. He loves to greet people and ask for muzzle pets and treats from everyone. In the show ring, Orlando is a formidable competitor in academy. Sofie is a force to be reckoned with! She has been a founding lesson horse at HRS ever since the opening. With her go-forward attitude and calm demeanor, she teaches riders the art of keeping their hands working and to go with the flow. She is also great at pattern work, and has patience for days. It costs $225/month to sponsor Sofie.
At 27 years old, Denver is our oldest and an invaluable member of HRS. We like to call him “the million dollar horse”. He may be lazy, but his calm and loving demeanor makes him the best for teaching tiny tot lessons. Every new rider who comes to HRS starts on Denver. He has a smooth trot, and when riders can get him to do it, a lovely canter. It costs $225/month to sponsor Denver.
Our newest member of the HRS lesson program is Burt! He tall, dark, and handsome and has the best personality. He was a successful western horse before he arrived at HRS, so he has a smooth trot, and one of the best canters around! It costs $500/month to sponsor Burt.
Oliver is the other half of our white Welsh pony duo with Indy. Oliver is kind-hearted and patient, but he also teaches riders to stay on their toes, and to remember to steer! Oliver also can be seen dressing up as a unicorn at birthday parties, and loves to give pony rides to little kids. It costs $100/month to sponsor Oliver.
